WHAT IS A REAL ESTATE CLOSING

REAL ESTATE LAW, is transactional in nature.  Our real property law has its roots in English Common Law.  Many find it complex and boring and full of legalize, but it is a very positive area of law.  It focuses on the basic needs of people for housing, shelter and an environment to feel safe in secure in a computerized industrial society.  The terms used in real estate transactions confuse many people.  Here is a list of common terms and their definitions.

People buy real estate, they sell real estate, they finance real estate.  The conclusion of all these goals is what takes place at a real estate closing.  At the closing all the work done by many professionals comes together and the transaction is concluded (closed).

At a closing people are asked to sign numerous legal papers required by Federal Agencies, Banks, Lenders, Title Agents, Mortgage Brokers.  Signatures are witnessed and/or notarized.

It is the job of the closing attorney to work with others to make this event seem simple and have it take place in a professional relaxing environment.  However, there is much work that takes place before and after the closing.

Obviously refinancing a home is less complex than purchasing and financing that home for the first time.  Here is a list of all the things that must be done to refinance your home.

Stephen Jeffrey Berlinsky, PA understands the importance of finding an attorney who has an understanding of all aspects of a real estate closing.  Real estate law is not just about deeds, mortgages and affidavits,

  • Its about people finding a place to live, and buying the home of their dreams.
